10 Ways To Boost Your Wellbeing In 10 Minutes

It doesn’t take very long to turn your day around and feel a little better. In fact, you could do most of these whilst waiting for the kettle to boil.

So what are we waiting for? Let’s get into it.

1.  Tidy Up

The 10 min tidy up is a staple in our co-founder Stefanie’s home. It’s the easiest way to refresh your space and mind. Sometimes it takes less than 10 mins and sometimes, it inspires you to keep going. Or just Declutter a Drawer If you tend to shove things in drawers when tidying, then the hidden mess may also be affecting you. Clearing out a drawer is a great way to get started instead of feeling you have to tackle your whole house.

2.  Read a Book

Every little helps if you want to fit more reading into your life. If you read for just 10mins a day, it’ll add up to 3650 minutes over the year - that’s over 60 hours. You'll find some tips to fit more reading into your life here.

3.  Indulge in a Quick Beauty Treatment

Pop on a face mask and lie on your bed like it’s a spa day or even just put on a bit of moisturiser. How many times in the day do you look down and think you could do with some hand cream? Do that. Looking for a better skincare routine. Try this*.

4.  Go Outside

It’s not the first time, nor will it be the last, that we will encourage you to get out in Mother Nature. The health benefits are endless, but you know you feel better even after a quick walk around the block. We’re blessed with some amazing walking routes on Guernsey so why not enjoy them more often?

5.  Start A Vision Board

Either pull a few bits out of some old magazines that are lying around before it goes in the recycling. Or you can even start a new board on Pinterest on your phone whilst the kettle boils, in the break of your favourite show or whilst you're waiting for your friend in a cafe. That’s intentional over mindless scrolling - a small win in our books.

6.  Dance It Out

“Hey Siri, play Harry Styles.” There’s nothing better than sticking on a song and having a quick boogie in the kitchen for a burst of endorphins guaranteed to make you smile. Dance like no one’s watching. Even if the dog or the baby are looking a bit confused.

7.  Phone a Friend

Ok, it’s 2023 and we know no one really wants an unsolicited phone call, but maybe text a friend and suggest a catch up over the weekend - then stick to it. There’s nothing better than talking to someone you haven’t spoken to for a while. It may last longer than 10mins but it’ll make you feel great, so definitely worth it.

8.  Meditate

You may have heard the saying, "You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day. Unless you're too busy, then you should sit for an hour." 10 minutes however is a good place to start. And it goes quite quickly once you are in the flow. Meditation allows you to increase mental awareness and reduce stress, helping you to think more clearly and go about your day in a calm way (there are hundreds of other benefits too). If you can’t bring yourself to sit in silence, then try an app or youtube for a guided version.

9.  Journal

Write down 3 things you're grateful for, empty your thoughts onto paper, remind yourself of your goal or simply get your to do list out of your head and on to paper where you can do, ditch or delegate tasks… there are many benefits to journaling, no matter how you choose to do it. Give it a go. Want to set more than 10mins aside? Try this.

10.  Stretch It Out.

You don’t need an hour long yoga class to reap the benefits of stretching and resetting the mind. Simply search Youtube for a quick 10min reset or take 10mins to stretch out your body in a way that feels good to you and give it a little attention.
