8 Solo Date Ideas For The New Season

We’re surrounded by so many cosy seasonal things to do in Guernsey that are great for our wellbeing at this time of year. So get a solo date in the diary, because whatever your relationship status, the most important relationship you will ever have is the one you have with yourself.

Here are some ideas for you to try.

1.  Take Yourself On A Coffee And Cake Date.

There’s nothing better than the welcoming atmosphere of a cafe on a dreary afternoon and we’ve got some of the best here in Guernsey to enjoy without interruptions. Some of our faves for great cake include Crepe Maison, Cobo Tea Room, The Imperial or our latest discovery, Camilla’s Cafe. Bring a book or a journal and indulge in some solo time.

2.  Hit The Cliffs Or Lanes.

Getting out in nature is the best way to clear your head and feel refreshed. With the Valette steps back open, it’s a great excuse to walk along to Fermain (another good cake stop!) from town. Or get lost in the lanes for a little more shelter. The reservoir is another great place to wander for a different type of view.

3.  Get Creative.

Pop into Iris and Dora or into the Community Crafthouse in the arcade and spend some time creating with your hands. Crafting is having a moment, from modern crochet creations to pottery wheel experiences or life drawing classes, there's something out there for you. This is a great introduction to the solo dating experience.

4.  Head To A Fitness Class.

Whether you want a good sweat and a solo date with a smoothie afterwards or fancy an indulgent yoga class, this is the best way to be with people but not. And there’s nothing like the feeling of stepping out into the brisk air after a session to cool down naturally.

5.  Get A Spot Of Culture.

Hit up a museum. Hauteville house is always an inspiring place to spend some time. Or head to the Guernsey Photography Festival exhibition. Guernsey Arts curates a regular list of things to do, from workshops and classes to theatre and panto performances.

6.  Take Yourself Shopping.

When was the last time you aimlessly wandered through the shops browsing alone with no real goal? It’s a luxury for most of us these days. So whether it’s the Le Creuset bits at Creaseys, the new decor at Maison Lifestyle, the plethora of skincare at Sephora or the rails of Gwyneth & Grey, head to town and wander for a couple of hours. For gifting options, you can still catch quite a few Christmas Markets, where the local makers and artisans always have a smile and a few friendly words waiting for you.

7.  Take In A Movie.

Escape with a movie - of your choice! A solo date to the cinema means you can watch whatever you like, at a time that works for you. So stock up on popcorn and settle in for a few hours of pure escapism.

8.  Have A Night In.

Get in the snacks (or treat yourself to a baking session), get cosy and catch up all alone on that movie or series you’ve been meaning to watch.
