6 Healthy Habits to Make You Feel Better Right Now

Forget lifestyle overhauls and extreme regimes, it's the little things that count when it comes to wellness. We all know what we should do feel great, but sometimes life gets in the way. We've got a list of six easy habits to incorporate into your daily life today to help you to feel better, right now.

1. Drink More Water

We all know we don't drink enough - especially when the weather is cooler outside. Remember when you used to start your day with a glass of water, and drink 8 glasses a day... yeah us too. Sometimes we fall out of good habits, unintentionally, and we need a nudge to get back on course. Consider this your nudge! We all know that staying hydrated helps us to concentrate more and be more alert. Drinking water also helps our bodies to work properly - and gives us a glowing complexion - so reach for a glass of the good stuff now and let's get back on track. Cheers!

 

2. Move More

Life is getting more and more sedentary. But there are lots of simple ways to be a little bit more active every day. It can be as simple as parking further away from work, taking the stairs instead of the lift or setting an alarm on your phone or FitBit to ensure you stand up and move around every hour. We love to have walking meetings. (In fact, The List was born out of one). You’ll feel better for it mentally, and over time you'll start to see the physical benefits too.  

 

3. Eat the Rainbow

Try to get as many different types of fruit and veg into your diet as possible. Eating a whole range of different coloured foods can be an easy way to stock up on the minerals and vitamins that your body needs to thrive. Another way to look at this is to “banish the beige” and make space for more colour on your plate. Add a side salad to your sandwich, pop some vegetables into your pasta, add berries to your porridge. Colour is anything but boring, and that applies to food too.

 

 

4. Get Enough Sleep

While you are sleeping, your body is hard at work strengthening your immune system, repairing tissues, regulating your hormone levels… the list goes on and on. You know what you need to do to promote quality sleep, but sometimes we fall into bad habits. Just one more Instagram Story, just another episode... So hit the reset button and switch off your notifications after dinner, avoid screens after dark, keep your bedroom cool at night and make time for sleep. 5. Enjoy Nature

Remember all of those long walks we went on at the start of lockdown when we were so grateful to get an hour of exercise? Then we stopped when life got busy. It happens. As well as the physical benefits, it was an opportunity to reconnect with nature and really appreciate the sights and sounds around us. 6. Treat Yourself

Whether it’s booking yourself in for a massage or just taking the time to drink your favourite coffee without interruption, make sure to include some me-time in your week - every week! You can’t pour from an empty cup. We all know this, but life gets crazy sometimes and we forget to look after number one (that's you by the way!)
