It’s our birthday. Another year has gone by and The List is two years old (we can't quite believe it either!) Last year we reflected on the things we had learnt in our first year. This time around, we are choosing to celebrate our achievements and take a moment to reflect on all of the relationships we have built up along the way with local businesses, charities, expert contributors… and you!
So, here goes: another year, another list.
Our Day of Wellbeing was something, wasn’t it? For us, it was an opportunity to bring our content to life. For you, it was a chance to take a day out to focus on you. We are so thankful to Healthspan for believing in our vision this June and helping us to support our charity partner Guernsey Mind. So many local businesses and practitioners got behind us and it truly was a wonderful day. We were so happy to meet those of you who came along on the day. So much so that we’re feeling the pressure to bring it back for you next year. Watch this space!
When we started The List, we knew we wanted to create a platform that enabled us to give something back to our local community, as well as promote good mental health and wellbeing. Joining forces with Guernsey Mind in early 2022 is just one of the ways that we’ve been able to do this. With the Mind team in our corner, we don’t need to shy away from the tough issues we are facing as a community. Our aim is to raise awareness around mental health and to provide practical advice and information, helping our local community to embrace a positive attitude towards self care and mental wellbeing. Being able to provide much needed financial support to our charity partner through events and partnerships is the icing on the cake.
We knew from the start that we wanted to deliver quality, expert-backed content to you. And to do that, we knew that we would need to work with people who really know their shizz. For starters, we work with the Guille-Alles Library to bring you some great reading recommendations. Then there's Sarah Gale Nutrition, our go-to nutrition and hormone expert and Vivienne Alexa, who we rely on for all things plant based and holistic health related. Not to mention all of the others who joined us when we brought our content to life for The List LIVE back in June. With all of the talent and expertise on this Island, Guernsey has the potential to grow into a real centre of wellness and we are proud to be a small part of that.
From Love Local with The List, where we support local small businesses and entrepreneurs, to Listed where we invite inspirational islanders to share their stories with you, we’ve got to know some amazing people this year. As well as bringing you fresh perspectives on local life, we’ve been inspired to carry on and aim higher by the individual tales of resilience and positivity. And we’re shifting up a gear with targeted campaigns such as our current breast cancer awareness series. We know this type of content makes a difference and we are so proud to share it with you.
It has to be said, the relationship we value the most is the friendship that has grown from our time spent together creating and growing The List. Starting a business isn’t easy, and life can be messy at times. There's a lot to deal with, and sharing your thoughts and opinions publicly can leave you feeling a little exposed, so it’s good to have someone in your corner, someone you can trust - a business partner and, more importantly, a friend. Our walking meetings are part-business, part catch-up. And that's the way we like it.
We truly believe we have created something special. And we are so grateful that so many of you have joined us. Rest assured that we are so thrilled with every message, newsletter sign-up, comment, like, share... the list goes on! We're also extremely grateful to everyone who has partnered with us, written for us and generally supported us with kind words of encouragement over the past 12 months. Thank you! Keep sending us your questions and suggestions, as well as messages of support and encouragement. We really love hearing from you!
And finally, it's been a busy year, but we’re not finished yet. We’ve got a few new developments coming your way... so stay tuned for more very soon.
Onwards and upwards!
