5 Ways To Well with Tracey Thomson

Our Co-founder Tracey shares her 5 wellbeing essentials.

1.  Breakfast Smoothie.

I try to start every day with a smoothie - sometimes green, mostly fruit based with a spoonful of natural yoghurt thrown in for good measure. It’s an easy way to make sure I get my day off to a good start with a decent amount of vitamins and nutrients.

2.  A Daily Walk.

I’ve always loved walking. For years I used to get up really early and take our previous dog Rosie for a long walk and it really set me up for the day. Our current rescue dog Tara doesn’t care so much for walking - she pretends she’s still asleep when I get up! - so my walking habits have changed, but I still get out and about every day. Sometimes I walk with the dog, sometimes with a friend, and sometimes with a podcast.

3.  Gardening and Houseplants.

I love plants and get real pleasure from growing and nurturing them, more so as the years go by. Part of our garden is transformed into a mini wildflower meadow in the summer and I love to sit with my coffee and take in the sights and sounds of nature early in the morning. In winter I get my fix from the many houseplants that are dotted around my home.

4.  Read Every Day.

Reading has been a huge part of my life, always. From as early as I can remember I would find a quiet corner and get lost in an Enid Blyton book. I guess it’s no surprise that I now write children’s books. I still read lots of fiction, mainly thrillers, but my guilty pleasure is to escape with some old fashioned romantic ficiton.

5.  A Good Night’s Sleep.

I love my bed and I need my sleep - I simply don’t function well if I have a bad night. Thankfully I usually sleep well, and I think that’s because I have a fairly regular routine. I’m definitely a morning person, so I’m up early that means I'm ready to fall asleep when bedtime comes around. I also never scroll on my phone at night, and I read rather than watching tv, which helps me drift off.
