As President of the Committee for Economic Development and a Member of the Committee for Housing in the States of Guernsey, Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Millier has a busy life.
Here are Sasha's wellness essentials.
Starting the day with a little yoga and stretching can make a world of difference. This habit became part of my daily routine after completing a short yoga course in India. I only manage to carve about 15 minutes each morning but it's one of my non-negotiables and really helps me to wake up and get ready to face the day.
Thanks to the new outdoor sauna facilities available in Guernsey, I've found a new love for alternating between sauna sessions and cold swims. I've found it to be one of the most effective ways to get your energy back after a long week of work and family duties.
I've always loved learning something new and acquiring new skills - it's one of the undeniable joys of my life. Since becoming a deputy, I’ve made it a point to challenge myself to keep up with this habit. Trying out boxing, padel, rowing, and even joining a choir have all been part of this journey. It’s about pushing boundaries, staying active, and embracing new experiences.
Given the extensive reading required for my work as a deputy in the States of Guernsey, finding the time or the headspace to read for leisure is tough. That’s why I prioritise listening to podcasts and audiobooks. It’s a fantastic way to keep learning and stay inspired, even on the go.
Life gets busy, especially with children's packed weekend schedules of sports, activities and birthday parties. That’s why I make it a priority to do a family activity at least once every few weeks - whether it’s a walk on the beach, playing a game of padel or looking for ormers together. It’s about making memories and staying connected, even amidst the chaos of daily family life.
