4 Creative Things To Try This Weekend

Looking for something a little different to do this weekend? The Greenhouse Collective is heading to Edible Guernsey for its final weekend.

The project has been popping up in historic greenhouses across the island throughout September, bringing together local artists and celebrating Guernsey’s agricultural and cultural heritage through art. 

It all comes to a close at Edible Guernsey this weekend, with four unique creative activities to get involved with on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September. It's a free event, and alongside the activities you can experience organic produce tasting and a plant sale. Just bring along sketchbooks or paper, your smartphone, pencils, pens and/or paints. It is free to attend and no experience is necessary.

Look out for the resident cats named Fluffy and Knight or pet a friendly goat while you're there. 

 

1. Try Smartphone Photography

Want to get more from the camera you carry around with you every day?

Photographer Lucie Stribrska will be hosting a smartphone photography session, encouraging you to slow down, look at your surroundings a little differently and get creative with your phone.

Saturday, 11.00am -– 12.00pm

 

2. Pick Up A Pencil

Fancy taking some time out to draw?

Guernsey Garden Sketch Club will be hosting an en plein air drawing session, taking inspiration from the surroundings at Edible Guernsey. A lovely excuse to spend an hour outside, switch off and put pencil to paper.

3. Go Foraging For Inspiration

What can you find when you start looking a little more closely at what's growing around you?

Local artist Athene Sholl will lead Sunday's Foraging for Inspiration session, exploring the natural environment and looking at how it can inspire creativity.

Sunday, 1.00pm – 2.00pm

 

4. Experiment With Natural Colour

Ever wondered how colour can be created from the natural world?

James Karr will be hosting a Natural Pigment Workshop and Indigo Printing session, giving you the chance to get hands-on and experiment with natural materials, colour and print.

Sunday, 2.00pm – 3.00pm

 

What You Need To Know

The Greenhouse Collective exhibition is taking place at Edible Guernsey on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026 and it's open from 10.00am – 4.00pm both days. 

Bring along sketchbooks or paper, your smartphone, pencils, pens and/or paints. It is free to attend and no experience is necessary.
