How To Get On Top Of Your Life Admin

We know that life can be busy, and with all of the day-to-day work, family and home tasks we have to get through, it can be easy to let the bigger life admin tasks slip through the net. We’ve all been there. Pushing things aside and adding them to that pile of papers or unread emails that need to be actioned…

1.  Check Your Passport.

When you’re planning a trip abroad, it’s not just the expiry date on your passport you need to think about - you also need to factor in entry requirements for your destination country. For example, if you’re travelling to France with a British passport it must be valid for at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave the country. 2.  Purchase Your Travel Insurance.

On the subject of travel, don't take a trip without travel insurance. It’s a fraction of your overall holiday costs and can cover a whole range of things, from lost luggage and flight cancellations to medical expenses. Is your next trip covered?

3.  File Your Tax Returns.

You know the saying: nothing is certain except death and taxes. This one is not going to go away, so there's no point putting it off. If you haven't done so already, file your tax returns. 

 

4.  Book Your Appointments.

Are you on top of your medical check ups and screening appointments? Your health is too important to push to one side, so make sure you're up to date and if not, book those appointments today.

5.  Check Your Medical Cover.

You never know when you might need to see your GP, visit A&E or use the ambulance service, and all of these services incur a cost here in Guernsey so make sure you have adequate medical cover in place. 6.  Sort Out Your Will.

This might seem like something you don't have to think about yet - and hopefully you won't need it for a long time! - but your family will thank you for getting your financial affairs in order. 

 

 

7.  Check Your Driving License Renewal Date.

Here in Guernsey your driving license usually expires the month before each decade birthday, so if you’ve got a big birthday coming up - or just passed! - check your license renewal date. 

8.  Renew Your Insurance.

There are many different types of insurance, from car insurance and household insurance to life cover and income protection policies. For each of these, you don't just need to know the renewal dates, it's also important to know that you've got the best cover to meet your individual needs. 9.  Review Your Subscriptions.

Do you actually know how many streaming services and membership schemes you're signed up to? Do a quick audit of your bank statement and consider if you're getting value for money for your subscriptions.

10.  Go Paperless.

This one won't actually reduce the tasks, but it will reduce the clutter, so go paperless wherever you can. Bank statements, bills, payments, reminders, calendars - they can all be done online.
